One person died and one was in critical condition at Grady Memorial Hospital on Wednesday night after a hazardous materials accident at a Douglas County refinery.

The incident happened at the Young Refinery off Huey Road in Douglasville.

Douglas County coroner Randy Daniel said he could not provide the name of the victim because family members had not yet been notified.

A third person who was injured was in stable condition, authorities said.

Matthew Kent of the Douglas County fire department said multiple units responded and that hazardous material was hydrogen sulfide.

Kent said, “There is no danger to the public at this time and all the air levels have tested normal.”
