The makeover of portions of a major Johns Creek thoroughfare could cause traffic backups starting next week.

Crews will start repaving sections of OId Alabama Road 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday in a project expected to take about two weeks. Look for periodic lane closures.

The city says crews will first repave the street from Ivey Ridge Lane to Brumbelow Road, then move to 1,000 feet either side of the Jones Bridge Road intersection. They’ll also rework Jones Bridge from Old Alabama to Waters roads.

It’s the third and final phase of the widening of Old Alabama, begun in spring, 2014.
