Meisner was moving the rifle which was stored in a case in a closet when another object inside the case hit the trigger and fatally injured her around 7 p.m., according to a Los Angeles police news release.

Randy Meisner was cooperative throughout the investigation, according to officials.

Police responded to the home for a disturbance call about an hour and a half earlier and took a domestic violence incident report.

Meisner was placed under court supervision after a murder-suicide incident in January 2015, according to Rolling Stone.

Meisner, who helped write and sang one of the band's biggest hits "Take it to the Limit," left the group in 1977. He last played with them during their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 1998, according to Rolling Stone.
