The health of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton has emerged lately as a talking point in the 2016 election, albeit, not in the usual way a topic becomes high-profile in American politics.
While her Republican opponent, Donald Trump, has made references to her stamina, Trump surrogate former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani called the media out his weekend, saying they are covering for Clinton's supposed health problems.
“She doesn’t need to campaign,” Giuliani said on “Fox News Sunday.” “She has the New York Times, she has the [New York] Daily News, she has ABC, she has CBS, she has NBC. She has an entire media empire that constantly demonizes Donald Trump and fails to point out that she hasn’t had a press conference in 300 days — 200 days, 100 days, I don’t know how long — and fails to point out several signs of illness by her. …All you’ve got to do is go online. Go online and put down ‘Hillary Clinton illness’ and take a look at the videos for yourself.”
Clinton answered some of the comments about her health on Monday night in an appearance on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," asking Kimmel to check to see if she had a pulse. He did, and declared "There's nothing there!"
Kimmel then asked Clinton to open a jar of pickles to prove she had stamina. Check out the video of Clinton's visit to Kimmel.
Here’s what other media is saying about Clinton’s health issue.
Dr. Drew is worried
"Dr. Drew Pinsky went on KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning today to discuss Hillary Clinton‘s medical records. The records of both candidates have been a hot topic of late, so Dr. Drew was brought on as as expert to discuss the idea that Clinton isn’t well. Pinsky is not Donald Trump‘s biggest fan- he’s hinted at the fact that he may be mentally unstable, if only somewhat, and back in September he brought an entire audience of Trump supporters to his show to figure out exactly what it was that motivated them. This made it especially surprising when he had serious doubts about the care Clinton has been receiving.”
‘Several signs of illness’
“Continuing with the narrative that Hillary Clinton is unfit to be president, Rudy Giuliani, an adviser with Donald Trump's campaign, claimed Sunday there are videos online that show Clinton has an illness. Giuliani said on "Fox News Sunday" that Clinton has "an entire media that constantly demonizes Donald Trump. The former New York City mayor went on to say the media fail to point out how she has not held a news conference in over 200 days and her "several signs of illness."”
Conspiracy theory about Clinton’s health
“Earlier this year, after a man rushed the stage where Donald Trump was speaking, the Republican presidential candidate claimed his would-be assailant had ISIS ties, pointing to online evidence that turned out to be a hoax. Pressed by NBC News’ Chuck Todd for some kind of evidence, Trump replied, “What do I know about it? All I know is what’s on the Internet.” As BuzzFeed noted, others on Team Trump have adopted a similar posture towards conspiracy theories and intellectual scrutiny. When Fox News Sunday host Shannon Bream asked Giuliani about Trump’s lagging poll numbers, Giuliani responded that Clinton has “an entire media empire,” – including the New York Times, ABC, and CBS, among others – working on her behalf. She has an entire media empire that … fails to point out several signs of illness by her. All you got to do is go online.” ”
Not a doctor, but plays one on TV
“On Thursday night, Katrina Pierson, Donald Trump’s spokeswoman, told MSNBC that Hillary Clinton has dysphasia, a neurological condition usually caused by brain injury, with symptoms including impaired speaking and reading abilities as well as difficulty understanding words. In the United States, the condition is often referred to as aphasia, which is most often caused by stroke, though it can also be the result of brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, and progressive neurological disorders. Pierson is not close to Clinton and has no firsthand knowledge of whether such a diagnosis has ever been given to her. Pierson is also not a doctor.”
‘Shocking secret health issues’
“As desperate presidential candidate Hillary Clinton tries to match the momentum of opponent Donald Trump, she's also battling two shocking secret health issues! In a bombshell exclusive, The National ENQUIRER has learned the 68-year-old Democratic front-runner is suffering from the early stages of the debilitating disease multiple sclerosis — and has endured a series of strokes! “Hillary’s past health problems are down to MS,” a political insider close to both Hillary and husband Bill Clinton told The ENQUIRER. “She’s been working with her staff to keep the medical drama under wraps, and she’s doing her best to deal with it.” But other sources claimed that Hillary's also suffered three secret strokes — and she’s flat-out lying about her failing health!”
