A Minnesota man thought he was watching an injured bald eagle struggling in the St. Croix River. Instead, he witnessed a life-and-death struggle between the bird and a large fish.

Dan Goff told WCCO it was "weird to see a bird in the water." But when the eagle lifted out of the water, it was carrying a large muskie, the television station reported.

"Muskies are strong. They are strong. That thing was 10 pounds or more," Goff told WCCO.

The eagle prevailed, however, and pulled the fish to shore, the Pioneer Press reported.

Goff used his cellphone to record the encounter.

“Good job buddy,” his wife, Andie Goff, said in the video
