Regan met Juan Landin and his wife outside a Gainesville hospital where he went to get checked out for any head injuries.

Juan Landin was inside his van when a powerful wind gust blew in and snapped a tree, toppling it onto the roof of the vehicle.

"I got up to change the stereo and there was too much wind and then come in the tree," Landin said. "I could see nothing more. I woke up and was like, 'Oh my God, what happened?"

"He heard kind of an explosion, then he said he kind of blacked out a little so when he came do he didn't know what was going on," said wife Julie Coile.

"When I looked out the front door, I could see all of this, I didn't know he was in the car," said brother-in-law Matt Coile.

Matt Coile said he first realized that the tree had crushed his girlfriend's car then he looked over at the van and saw Landin a few feet away.

"He was standing up there in the driveway," Matt Coile said. "He kinda looked like he didn't know what had happened."

Juan's wife and child told Regan they are relieved beyond words that he dodged a disaster.

"Probably about 6 or more inches it would have landed on him," Julie Coile said.

Juan and his wife are hoping insurance will cover the cost of the damage but for now they're just happy to be home safe and sound.
