Here's a roundup of news trending across the nation and world today.
What to know now:
1. Stepping back: North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory on Tuesday issued an executive order that expanded rules for anti-discrimination lawsuits for employees of the state. The move came after weeks of backlash over a new law that limits protections for the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender communities. McCrory is asking lawmakers to restore the ability of all workers to sue over employment discrimination in state court. The new law disallowed that.
2. Paul's not in: Paul Ryan called a press conference Tuesday to assure the country that he is not interested in being president in 2016. It had been suggested that the Speaker of the House could be drafted to run if there is a contested Republican nominating convention in July. Ryan said no way, no how.
3. Paying for the hack: The Washington Post is reporting that the FBI paid professional hackers for the device they used to enable them to access the information on the iPhone belonging to Syed Farook, one of the gunman who killed 14 co-workers in San Bernardino, Calif. According to the story, the hackers approached the FBI to tell them about a flaw in the software of the iPhone 5C. They then created a device that allowed the agency to bypass the phone's security system.
4. Affluenza teen in court: Ethan Couch is scheduled to be in court Wednesday to learn if he will face more jail time. Couch, who received probation following a 2013 car crash that killed four people, could face time behind bars for violating the conditions of that probation. The Texas teenager fled to Mexico with his mother after a video posted online appeared to show him drinking at a party.
5. Trump on the RNC: Donald Trump is complaining about the Republican National Committee nominating process, calling it a "disgrace," and a "scam." In an interview with The Hill, Trump said RNC chairman Reince Priebus "should be ashamed of himself...because he knows what's going on." Trump has been upset about the way Colorado picked delegates – 34 went to rival Ted Cruz without a caucus or a primary being held.
And one more
Los Angeles Laker Kobe Bryant will play his final game Wednesday, closing out a 20-year career that included five NBA championships. The game against the Utah Jazz will be broadcast on ESPN2. Tip-off is at 10:30 p.m.
