What to know now:
1. Prince investigation: Police are investigating whether Prince died from a drug overdose, according to a source familiar with the investigation. Law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at the late singer's Minnesota-area home Thursday. According to the source, investigators are trying to determine if a doctor prescribed the singer pain killers in the weeks before his death.
2. No love lost: Former House Speaker John Boehner called Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz "Lucifer in the flesh" at a town hall-style event at Stanford University Wednesday. Boehner was asked what he thought of Cruz and if he would be supporting the Texas senator in his bid for president. "I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a b--h in my life.
3. Draft drama: Thursday night saw the beginning of the 2016 NFL draft, and a bizarre social media event that may have played a part in the order at least one player was chosen. Offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil of Ole Miss was expected to go high in the draft, but wound up being picked 13 after a video of him on his Twitter account showed someone who looked to be smoking marijuana out of a bong-gas mask contraption. Then after he was drafted by the Miami Dolphins, an Instagram post showed two images of what appeared to be a conversation between Tunsil and a coach at Ole Miss in which Tunsil asks for money. Tunsil then seemed to admit at a news conference that he did get money, a violation of NCAA rules. Before he was ushered out of the press conference, he said his social media accounts had been hacked.
4. Will Smith shooting: The man who shot and killed New Orleans Saints player Will Smith during a traffic dispute was indicted Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder. A judge set a bond of $1.75 million for Cardell Hayes. In addition to murder, Hayes is facing charges of aggravated assault and aggravated damage to property. Police say Hayes shot former player Will Smith and Smith's wife after Smith hit Hayes' vehicle from behind on April 9 and drove off. Smith's wife was shot in the legs.
5. Sons arrested: A chilling note at the scene of a double murder in San Jose, Calif., has led police to the murdered couple's sons. Hasib Bin Golamrabbi, 22, and his 17-year-old brother, who was not named, were arrested in the murders Wednesday. A handwritten note reading "Sorry, my first kill was clumsy" was found on the floor near where the bodies were discovered by other family members.
And one more
A man dressed in an animal costume and wearing a surgical mask walked into a Baltimore TV station Thursday and told people there he had a bomb. After some time in the building, the man came out and was shot by police when he refused to cooperate. The man, who has not yet been identified, is in serious condition, but expected to survive. The device he claimed was a bomb turned out to be aluminum-wrapped chocolate bars duct-taped to a flotation device.
