1. North Korea missile: North Korea launched a medium-range ballistic missile into the sea Friday, in violation of various United Nations resolutions and in response to annual US-South Korea military exercises. South Korean officials said the missile was fired from a mobile launcher north of Pyongyang. It flew 500 miles before it crashed into the sea off the northern coast of North Korea. The UN has banned North Korea from any ballistic or nuclear activities.
2. No VP by Rubio's name: Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, who dropped out of the race for the Republican presidential nomination this week, says he will not consider being a running mate for the eventual GOP nominee. "I'm not going to be anybody's vice president. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way," he said. "I'm not going to be vice president, I'm not running for governor of Florida, I'm going to finish out my term in the Senate over the next ten months."
3. Parents to be graded: A bill passed by the Mississippi House of Representatives is proposing that teachers issue grades for parents' involvement in their children's education. The bill, called the "Parent Involvement and Accountability Act," would require teachers to grade parents on areas such as teacher communication, absences, homework completion, tardiness and readiness for tests, according to a story from Fox News. Teachers would give "satisfactory," "in need of improvement" or "unsatisfactory" grades to parents on a section of their child's report card. The bill moved out of the Mississippi House after it passed and is under consideration by the Senate.
4. Nike's power laces: For a world grown too lazy to tie its own shoes, Nike has sprung to the rescue, unveiling its HyperAdapt 1.0 with power-operated laces. They will be on sale for the 2016 holiday season, but Nike has not yet announce how much they will set you back if you buy a pair.
5. "Path to victory:" Despite his across the board loss in Tuesday's five primaries, Sen. Bernie Sanders says he still has a "path toward victory" over Hillary Clinton in the race for the Democratic nomination for president. Sanders told the Associated Press, "I don't believe they have an insurmountable lead. Secretary Clinton has done phenomenally well in the Deep South and in Florida. That's where she has gotten the lion's share of votes. And I congratulate her for that. But we're out of the Deep South now."
