What to know now:

1. Caucus time: The first votes  in the 2016 race for president will be cast Monday as Iowa residents gather there to caucus. On the Republican side, Sen. Ted Cruz, (R-Texas), and businessman Donald Trump top the polls. For Democrats, the race is tight between former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Sen. Bernie Sanders, (I-Vt.). 2. Clinton emails: The State Department said Friday that 22 emails either sent or received by then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on a private server she maintained in her   home  contained "top secret" information. The messages were removed from the latest batch of emails culled from the server and released to the public last week. Clinton said on ABC's "This Week," that the email scandal is  "… very much like Benghazi. The Republicans are going to continue to use it, beat up on me, I understand that, that's the way they are ... I think it's pretty clear they are grasping at straws."

3. Students charged: Two Virginia Tech students are facing charges in the death of a 13-year-old girl who was found late Saturday along a  South Carolina road. David Eisenhauer, 18, was charged with first-degree murder, according to law enforcement after Nicole Lovell's body was discovered this weekend. Natalie Keepers, 19, was also arrested and charged with a felony count of improper disposal of a dead body.  Reports say Eisenhauer knew Lovell before her  alleged abduction and murder.

4. Even more debates: The Democratic National Committee has added four debates to its schedule after negotiations with the campaigns of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders. Sanders and fellow Democratic candidate Martin O'Malley had complained that there were too few Democratic debates scheduled for the primary season. The first of the four added debates will be held Feb. 4 in New Hampshire in advance of that state's primary on Feb. 9. The debate will be moderated by Chuck Todd of NBC News and Rachel Maddow of  MSNBC.

5. Cosby lawyers in court: Lawyers for Bill Cosby will ask a Pennsylvania judge Tuesday to throw out charges of sexual assault against the comedian. Cosby was arrested in December on charges he drugged and assaulted a Temple University basketball coach at his Philadelphia-area  home in 2004.  More than 50 women have come forward claiming Cosby drugged and assaulted them, as well. This is the only case in which charges have been filed against Cosby.

And one more

Authorities  in Fort Worth, Texas, are investigating a report of a disturbance involving NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel. According to police, officers responded to a call of a possible assault involving Manziel and a woman identified as his girlfriend. Manziel was a first-round  draft pick for the Cleveland Browns in the 2014 draft. No arrests were made.
