Here's a roundup of news trending across the nation and world today.

What to know now:

1. Biden/Warren ticket: Sources close to Joe Biden say the vice president talked with Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren last year about a possible run for the Democratic presidential nomination. According to the report, the two met several times, but Biden ultimately decided not to run following the death of his son, Beau.

2.  Goodbye Michael: Today will be Michael Strahan's last day on "Live with Kelly and Michael," but it wasn't supposed to be. Strahan is leaving his co-hosting duties four months early. According to reports, Kelly Ripa told her bosses at Disney and ABC that she wanted to jump start the search for a replacement for Strahan. Ripa was said to be "furious" about the way she was told that the former NFL star would be leaving the show for a job at "Good Morning America."

3. Letter to schools: The Obama administration is planning to notify every public school in America Friday that transgender students are to be allowed to use school restrooms that match their gender identity. The letter implies that if schools choose not to comply with the guidance, they could lose federal aid or face a lawsuit. "This guidance gives administrators, teachers, and parents the tools they need to protect transgender students from peer harassment and to identify and address unjust school policies," U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in a statement.

4. Girl found: Carlie Trent, the 9-year-old Tennessee girl abducted from her school by her uncle, has been found safe in a remote area of Tennessee. Owners of the property they were hiding out on found Carlie and her uncle, Gary Simpson, in a patch of dense woods. Last week Simpson went to the girl's school, lied to  authorities saying her father had been in an accident and checked Carlie out of class. They had not been seen since.

5. Rivers' lawsuit: A medical malpractice suit filed  over the death of comedian Joan Rivers is said  to have been settled. Rivers' family filed suit after she died as a result of what should have been a routine medical procedure at a New York endoscopy center. The suit alleged doctors performed an unauthorized procedure, failed to notice the star was in distress and snapped a selfie with Rivers while she was unconscious. The amount of the settlement was not revealed.
