An Auburn, Wash. police officer took a 14-month-old girl to the hospital after finding the toddler in a homeless encampment.

"Our men and women may act tough but deep down, not only are they peacekeepers but they too are moms/dads/sisters/brothers/sons/daughters at the end of the day," Auburn police officials wrote.

Wednesday morning, Officer Lindgren came across the little girl who was apparently living at the camp, surrounded by filth and drug paraphernalia, police said. The girl was taken to the hospital for a check-up to make sure she was all right before Child Protective Service officials came for her.

“Thank you Officer Lindgren for taking the time to comfort her!” officials wrote over Facebook. “#WeSeeYou”
