Republican Donald Trump has been elected the next president of the United States, winning stunning victories in several battleground states originally thought to be part of Democrat Hillary Clinton's "firewall," The Associated Press reports.
Clinton reportedly called Trump to concede the race early Wednesday.
Before a crowd in New York, Trump said he congratulated Clinton on a "very hard-fought campaign."
"Now it's time for America to bind the wounds of division," he said.
"It is time for us to come together as one united people."
