The topic #NotOkay surged on Twitter this week following the release of a 2005 recording where Donald Trump used vulgar language to describe coming on to women and groping their genitals.

The Republican nominee later issued an apology and excused the comments as “locker-room banter” but many have expressed outrage and disgust by his remarks, sparking a viral movement led by author and social media maven Kelly Oxford.

The New York Times reported that, by Monday, nearly 27 million people had responded or visited Oxford’s Twitter page. As many women came forward to tweet personal stories of sexual assault, an alarming number of tweets involved doctors violating their patients.

The revelations echo a nationwide problem uncovered by the AJC in a yearlong investigation that found physician sexual misconduct is tolerated in every state in the U.S.
