Police have released the 911 call a woman made about the gruesome death of her dog.
In it, Danecia Williams identified the former Falcons player Prince Shembo as the killer of her five-pound dog and explained what he had confessed to her.
"My dog was killed by the guy I was dating, Prince Shembo. He plays for the Atlanta Falcons," Williams said.
Prince Shembo is accused of kicking the dog to death. His ex-girlfriend has now filed a civil suit against him.
Williams called Gwinnett County 911 days after her dog Dior's death, wanting to file a cruelty to an animal complaint.
Dispatcher: "Why didn't you call at the time?"
Williams: "Because he recently confessed to kicking my dog."
Last Friday, Gwinnett police charged the Falcons linebacker with the felony.
The team released Shembo hours after the story broke.
By nightfall, the then ex-player walked into jail for processing, letting his attorney play defense.
"He was putting the dog in the cage, and the dog bit him, and (he) reflexed and kicked the dog," said attorney Jerry Froelich.
But that's not what his girlfriend, a part-time model who took the dog on stage, told the dispatcher. She said Shembo first claimed the dogs were fighting, then changed his story.
“I was like, 'What exactly did you do?' He said, 'I kicked him,' and I was like, 'Once?' And he said, 'No, repeatedly,'” Williams said on the call.
Williams has since broken up with Shembo and has already filed a civil suit against him.
“He's like don't spend all this money on a dog,” Williams said on the 911 call.
Williams’ attorney says if there is any money to get, she will be setting up a foundation and not taking it directly herself.
