Tyrell Cohen, the twin brother of Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen, was found electrocuted Sunday night at a North Carolina electrical plant.

Cohen’s body was found by an employee of the Duke Power substation in Raleigh, North Carolina, according to the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.

Police believe Cohen, 25, was electrocuted while attempting to climb some of the equipment, according to WRAL.

Eric Curry, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, said Cohen fled the scene of a car accident near Interstate 540 and Six Forks Road about 2 a.m. Saturday. Police tried to locate him but couldn’t.

Cohen’s family filed a missing person report with the police department Saturday night, according to Curry, and officers started looking for him again Sunday morning.

“He entered the substation, which may have been resulting from the accident,” Curry said, according to the Raleigh News & Observer. Authorities do not suspect foul play, according to news releases from Wake County deputies and Raleigh police.

Tarik Cohen grew up in Franklin County and graduated from North Carolina A&T State University. He has run for 1,585 yards and nine touchdowns in 51 games in four seasons with Chicago.

“All around, he was truly a beautiful person,” a family friend told WRAL. “Don’t try to color my boy bad, because he’s not here to defend himself.”

Cohen leaves behind a longtime girlfriend of nearly nine years and two daughters, ages 3 and 7.
