Shooters sprayed 150 bullets into a North Carolina home Tuesday night, killing a 3-year-old boy and injuring his 4-year-old sister — a brazen crime that authorities believe could be related to an ongoing feud between students at three local high schools.

Asiah Figueroa was asleep in his Charlotte home when he was shot to death, The News & Observer reports.

Several other recent shooting attacks on homes in the area are reportedly related to disputes among high school students, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said, according to the Observer.

The students reportedly attend Hopewell, North Mecklenburg and Chambers high schools, authorities said.

Police have pleaded with the community for help in finding Asiah’s killers, specifically from students who attend the three schools and their parents, the Observer reports.

“Parents of kids at these high schools, what we need from you is we need you to be as outraged as we are about this,” police Capt. Joel McNelly said at a news conference Wednesday, according to the Observer. “This is where your kids go to school, these are the people that your kids are around, and we need your help.”

“You should know whether or not your children were at home the last few nights. If your children were not at home the last few nights, overnight, we need to know that.”
