Six people were killed, including the suspect, on Thursday in Plymouth, England, police confirmed.

A British member of Parliament described it as a “serious and tragic incident.”

Local authorities confirmed a response in the southwestern English city.

The shooting was contained on Biddick Drive in the Keyham area of Plymouth, according to reporter Rachael Venables.

Johnny Mercer has represented the city in Parliament since 2015.

BBC Radio initially reported up to two people had been shot.

Luke Pollard, another member of Parliament, said the incident represents “a very grim day for our city and community.”
