A naked man who allegedly said he had a bomb in his car and was threatening to kill himself and others has been arrested after an hours-long standoff on a coastal Georgia interstate.

According to Glynn County police, officers responded to a call about 5:23 a.m. to exit 29 on Interstate 95.

Police arrived and set up a perimeter around the area, closing portions of Highway 17 and the exit itself.

After SWAT teams arrived on the scene, police said five gas cartridges were shot into the vehicle about 1:24 p.m., forcing the suspect to get out of his car.

That’s when police moved in and arrested the suspect, whose name has not been released.

Multiple state and local police and law enforcement officials were dispatched to the scene.

Police said the suspect has been taken to the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
