Murder arrest made in shooting death of Gwinnett man
Police made an arrest Saturday in the shooting death of a Gwinnett County man a week earlier, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The body of Brian Whitfield was discovered in the driveway leading to his home last weekend.
Early Saturday morning police arrested Marquavis Benton and charged him with Whitfield’s murder.
Police say Benton was pulled over in Griffin overnight. Griffin officer’s arrested Benton and turned him over to Gwinnett police.
Whitfield, 45, was found dead at his home near Auburn on Flowery Branch Road on Saturday. The robber or robbers took, along with various household items, Whitfield’s distinctive 2005 Dodge Ram “Rumblebee” edition pick up, police said.
The truck, stolen during the robbery-homicide, was found Tuesday night in Atlanta, abandoned and partially stripped.
