The Thursday morning commute was a soggy one, but forecasters are predicting dry roads and decreasing clouds for the afternoon drive home, with temperatures dropping a bit on Friday.

Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said the morning showers should taper off by early afternoon as a cold front pushes into the state.

Weather radar showed light showers across metro Atlanta before daybreak, with a wide band of heavier rain stretching across the north Georgia mountain counties.

Minton said temperatures Thursday will climb from morning lows around 60 degrees to afternoon highs in the upper 60s.

Friday’s highs will be about 10 degrees cooler, only reaching the upper 50s after starting out in the low 40s.
