The airport has updated customers via its Twitter account all morning. At one point, all services from the airport had been canceled. By about 10:45 a.m., services were resumed, but more than 100 flights were still delayed.

Late Sunday, an advisory was issued stating that more than 150 of its flights were experiencing weather delays and 11 flights had been canceled. Areas around the airport were hit with about 6 inches of rain between midnight and early Monday, according to WPTV-TV.

Elsewhere in South Florida, parking garages and streets were flooded from the heavy rains.

South Florida television station WSVN captured a person kayaking through the grounds of the Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino in Hallandale Beach.

The highest amount of rain so far has been recorded in the area around Fort Lauderdale International Airport and in Hallandale Beach, according to the Miami Herald.

Besides flooded roads, many traffic lights were not working throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties.

The rain, which started after midnight, will ease through the day and make way for cooler temperatures Monday evening, with temperatures dipping to the low 60s.
