A tip from a neighbor led to the discovery last week of a large marijuana growing operation in the basement of a home in Rockdale County, and the man suspected of running the operation was arrested Monday as he tried to flee the country, authorities said.

In early December, narcotics and vice deputies received information about possible drug activity at a house on Elizabeth Court, the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office reported.

Investigators began looking into the tip, and that led to the execution of a search warrant on New Year’s Eve. That’s when investigators discovered 85 marijuana plants in multiple rooms in the basement of the home.

“Between the equipment and marijuana plants, investigators have estimated the marijuana grow to be a $1 million operation,” the sheriff’s office posted on the department’s Facebook page.

The suspect, Randy Le, was arrested Monday at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, attempting to board an international flight. Le, 48, of Conyers, was charged with trafficking marijuana.
