A 31-year-old Marietta man died after being ejected in a crash that injured another person on I-75 in Cobb County, police said Friday.
Investigators believe Ronald Washington was driving a blue 2004 Lexus southbound on I-75 near Windy Hill Road when he struck the rear of a Ford Escape around 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Officer Alicia Chilton with Cobb police said. The two-vehicle crash forced investigators to close multiple lanes of the interstate late Thursday.
The collision caused the Ford to roll onto its roof and slide until it stopped in the right lane of I-75 southbound, Chilton said. The Lexus rolled several times before coming to a stop on its left side in the southbound lanes of I-75.
Washington was unrestrained and ejected from the Lexus and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators. The driver of the Ford, Laszlo Nyerges, 54, of Huntsville, Ala., was taken by ambulance to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.
No charges are expected to be filed in the crash, Chilton said.
