A 31-year-old Florida man was sentenced to life in prison following his conviction on child molestation charges, according to the Cobb County District Attorney.
Aulden John Eddy, 31, was convicted of aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery and child molestation for the 2006 and 2007 assaults in Marietta, DA Vic Reynolds said. Cobb Superior Court Judge Reuben M. Green sentenced Eddy to life plus 20 years to serve in prison, and he must serve at least 30 years before being eligible for parole.
If Eddy is released from prison, he will be on the sex offender registry and subject to monitoring for life, Reynolds said.
The victim testified that although she was 11 at the time of the assault, she waited until she was in high school to report the crime.
“This victim has been carrying this burden for years,” Assistant DA Chuck Boring said in an emailed statement. “She turns 19 tomorrow, and she’s ready to start anew.”
Eddy was arrested in August 2013 in Florida and brought to the Cobb jail, where he has been held without bond, booking records showed.
