A man shot Monday night at Atlantic Station wasn’t a guest or resident of the nearby hotel, according to police. But investigators believe the man knew the person who shot him.

“We don’t believe it was random act,” Lt. Charles Hampton with Atlanta police said. “We believe the victim was, in fact, the intended target.”

The man, whose name was not released, was in critical condition and being treated at Grady Memorial Hospital, police said. He was shot near the Twelve Hotel and Residences building on 17th Street, according to police.

One person was being interviewed at APD headquarters and was cooperating, Hampton said.

Police are asking for anyone in the area between 7:30 and 8 p.m. to contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477 with any information that may assist in the investigation.
