One year after being released from state prison for the third time, an Atlanta man is accused of a fatal shooting, police said Thursday afternoon.
Nyron James Thomas, 31, was charged with murder for allegedly killing Gee Shinnara, Officer Ralph Woolfolk said.
Officers were called around 10 a.m. Thursday to the 500 block of James P. Brawley Drive, where they found a man who had been shot, according to police. The man, later identified as Shinnara, 36, of Atlanta, died after being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Thomas was detained in the area and later arrested and charged, Woolfolk said. He was booked into the Fulton County jail. No details were released about a possible motive in the shooting.
Thomas has been in prison three times since 2007, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections. He was last released Sept. 11, 2013, following a conviction in Cobb County for terroristic threats and acts, records showed. Thomas also has a prior felony conviction in Douglas County.
