The White House was briefly placed on lockdown Friday after a man allegedly attempted to scale the fence as President Joe Biden attended the G7 summit in Britain.

The man, who has not yet been identified, was arrested by Secret Service police and placed in handcuffs before he was able to make it onto the lawn.

The incident was first reported on Twitter by Michael Lipin, a correspondent with Voice of America News.

Photos of the incident show the man being pinned to the ground on the roadway just beyond the sidewalk outside the residence of the commander in chief, with three officers securing the area.

The man had on a red T-shirt, khaki pants, sneakers and a face mask.

The incident happened shortly before 4 p.m. There was no indication of a motive or that any damage occurred. There also did not appear to be any further threats stemming from the episode.

Lafayette Park across the street was closed, and police cleared pedestrians from the area.

Biden was away on his first international trip in Europe as president.
