Austin is, apparently, one of the happiest cities in America.
That's according to personal finance website WalletHub's 2017 "Happiest Places to Live" ranking, which listed the metro at No. 22 on the list of 150 cities.
To come up with the results, analysts at WalletHub compared the nation’s 150 largest cities across three key dimensions: emotional/physical well being, income/employment and community/environment.

Using data from sources such as the U.S. Census Bureau and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the three dimensions were evaluated based on 30 relevant metrics such as rates of depression, poverty rates, weather and more.
Eight of the top 10 happiest cities in America, according to WalletHub, are in California.

The happiest city in the nation is Fremont, California.
And the least happy of the 150 cities examined is Detroit.
Austin scored a total of 63.01 points and ranked No. 12 for the emotional/physical well-being category, No. 33 for income/employment and No. 74 in community/environment.
The highest ranked Texas city on the list was Plano, at No. 19. Six Texas cities were in the top 50; Dallas was ranked 86th while Fort Worth came in at No. 54.
