District 2 City Councilman Kwanza Hall will join the Fourth Ward Alliance neighborhood association to kick off the 2013 edition of Year of Boulevard, an effort to improve an area that contains some of the highest concentrations of poverty in the Southeast. The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 10 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 475 Boulevard. Refreshments will be available from 6:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., when the neighborhood meeting is scheduled to begin. Hall will introduce representatives of several city departments.
Launched in January of 2012, the Year of Boulevard has been the catalyst for a new police mini-precinct located within the Atlanta Medical Center, community cleanup efforts along the corridor, four summer camps for 450 youth and improvements to the Bedford Pine properties.
