Yamaha has expanded its local corporate presence in Cobb County by opening a new headquarters for its motorsports division.

Gov. Nathan Deal on Monday attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the office, located on Chastain Meadows Parkway near Town Center at Cobb.

The office will bring 100 jobs to Marietta, said Bob Starr, a Yamaha spokesman. The jobs range from roles in sales and marketing to administrative work.

The space will become the new American home of operations for Yamaha Motor Corporation’s motorsports division — think motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs and snowmobiles.

Some of the jobs are new and others are coming from the the large Yamaha Motors headquarters in California.

This expansion is to support the growing Yamaha Marine Group that has been in Kennesaw about 20 years. That group needed more space, so the company decided to move the motorsports division jobs to fill the new space.

The Marietta office is near the current local location for thyssenkrupp Elevator, which recently committed to building its North American headquarters near SunTrust Park as the tallest building in Cobb.
