Woodstock has announced a Veterans Day weekend opening for its long-awaited amphitheater in the historic downtown area.

The venue, at Main Street and Arnold Mill Road in the Park at City Center, will open Saturday evening, Nov. 12, with a free concert by country artist and Woodstock resident Mark Wills and the Thomas Fountain Band, city officials said.

The Amphitheater will have multiple grass terraces and a large main “lawn” for more than 7,500 audience members. It also will offer a band shell with public restrooms that will serve the Park at City Center year-round.

The project originally was to be completed in June, but rain delays pushed that date back to September and, finally, November. Woodstock’s 2016 summer concert series was canceled as a result.
