Woodstock officials are on the hunt for artistic talent as they seek an artist to paint a large downtown mural.

The Woodstock Convention and Visitors Bureau has posted a request for qualifications at www.downtownwoodstock.org/mural, with qualified painters asked to submit applications by Jan. 8.

Submittals will be reviewed and scored by city agencies and various downtown stakeholder groups. Finalists will be interviewed Jan. 19-29 with the winner announced Feb. 1.

The mural’s planned for the southern wall of the Woodstock Pharmacy facing Mill Street downtown and will be aimed at highlighting city history. Funding’s coming from an $8,000 Atlanta Regional Commission grant which is being matched by three Woodstock groups.
