The Woodstock City Council has adopted a fiscal 2017 operating budget that calls for hiring six new firefighter-paramedics, giving employees 3 percent raises and keeping the millage rate unchanged at 6.992.
The $38 million budget, passed by the Council on second reading Monday night, also provides for renovations to Fire Stations 10 and 14, and the hirings of a park and recreation maintenance worker and a public information officer. The 3 percent pay raises would be for non-probationary full-time and year-round part-time employees.
Woodstock’s millage rate of 6.992 is the same as last year’s but down from 7.250 in fiscal 2015 and an all-time high of 7.889 in fiscal years 2013 and 2014. Recurring revenues in FY 2017 are projected to be up 7 percent, and the net property tax digest is expected to rise by 10 percent before appeals and exemptions.
