“Little River Park” is the official name of the new Woodstock city park off Trickum Road near Barnes Road, the City Council has decided.

The park, on the east side of town, needed a name so signs could be erected, officials said. The name was discussed at a recent city retreat as appropriate for the 30.65-acre property, as Little River runs through the northern portion of the site.

“It is the desire of the council to preserve the native plant and animal species, protect Little River (and) the Etowah River Basin, provide passive recreation opportunities and construct trails and a trail head at this site,” according to a naming resolution approved by the council.
