Woodstock officials said they’ve gotten a good rating on the city’s fire protection capabilities.

To help insurance agencies establish fire insurance premiums for both commercial and residential properties nationwide, the Insurance Services Office has had a Public Protection Classification system. After an evaluation, Woodstock got a rating of 1 on a 1-10 scale, the highest possible. The city’s prior rating was a 3.

City officials said that only 100 other agencies nationally have earned the designation. The PPC is also said to help communities evaluate their fire services and make good decisions on such things as training, equipment and infrastructure.
