UPDATE: The event has reached its capacity. Onsite registration is unavailable.
Women veterans looking to start a new business will get the advice they need at a three-day event in downtown Atlanta.
The Institute for Veterans and Military Families is holding an event to help roughly 250 registrants with their entrepreneurial pursuits.
The event, now in its ninth year, will be held at the Sheraton Atlanta Hotel on 165 Courtland Street from Friday to Sunday. The organization, which operates out of Syracuse University, hopes to train women veterans and military spouses for small business management. The organization holds the event, called Veteran Women Igniting the Spirit of Entrepreneurship, twice each year.

“Women veterans and military spouses are equipped with unique traits and experiences that make them well-suited for success in business ownership,” Institute for Veterans and Military Families director Mike Haynie said in an emailed statement.
Last year, unemployment rates for women veterans were at 3% — down from 5.5% in 2017, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Since the event’s launch, 65 percent of the participants have started a business and of that amount 93 percent have remained in business.
