Two drivers were injured, including one critically, in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon in Cherokee County, fire officials said.

The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Cumming Highway at the intersection with Water Tank Road and it blocked traffic in both directions, according to Tim Cavender, spokesman for the fire department.

Investigators believe a 2014 Nissan Versa was traveling westbound when the driver steered left, crossed the center line, and struck a 2015 Toyota Corolla head-on, the Georgia State Patrol said.

The driver of the Nissan, Judith Nicole Price, 33, of Cartersville had to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in critical condition, investigators said.

The Toyota driver was also injured, but was in stable condition at Kennestone, the GSP said. The Corolla driver was identified as Omar Goldwin Clarke, 24, of Alpharetta.

The crash remains under investigation.
