Cherokee County authorities are searching for a man in connection with a woman's body that was found Tuesday outside a home.
Joseph Felton Twilley is being called a person of interest after officials found the body of his sister, Karen Twilley, 58, of Woodstock, outside a home off Victoria Road, Cherokee sheriff's office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said. Karen Twilley had been reported missing.
Baker said Joseph Twilley was last seen heading westbound on I-20 in Carroll County about 3 p.m. Authorities say the 160-pound, 6-feet-2 Twilley has made threats to harm law enforcement and himself in the past and should be considered armed and dangerous.
Baker called Karen Twilley's death “suspicious.” He said the call came in to authorities about 6:30 a.m.
Karen Twilley lived with her 86-year-old mother, Baker said. The mother is not a suspect in the death.
The mother's blue 2001 Ford Focus station wagon with Georgia tag number ATC8621 was missing from the residence, Baker said. Anyone who sees the car, which has a tennis ball-size "smiley face" on the antenna, is urged to call 911.
Gabe Greenbank, who has lived in the area for about six months, called it an "out of the way" neighborhood.
"The only reason you come back here is you know somebody or you live here," he said.
Anyone with information on Joseph Twilley's whereabouts is asked to call the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office at 678-493-4200.
