Keep your winter coats out. This weekend is going to be a cold one.

The average high temperature for Atlanta this time of year is 57 degrees, according to Channel 2 Action News chief meteorologist Glenn Burns. Saturday’s high likely will reach only about 44 degrees, he said.

Cloudy skies are expected to clear by early Saturday afternoon, Burns said. By 6 p.m., rain and possibly snow flurries are expected to move into northwest Georgia, but the dry air likely will cause any snow to evaporate, he said.

Snow ball fights aren’t likely in the metro area, forecasters said. But it will be cold enough.

Saturday’s temperature is expected to dip to around 32 degrees, and the cold air will continue into Sunday, Burns said. Lows early Sunday will be in the 20s before afternoon highs in the upper 40s, he said.

A warm-up is expected Monday, when temperatures will reach a more seasonal 58 degrees, Burns said.
