For the second consecutive year, Whitewater High School in Fayette County has received a $2,000 grant from Coca-Cola-owned Powerade to help funds its sports programs.

Mike Vena, the school’s athletic director, submitted a video essay about the school’s needs last fall to Powerade’s “Power Your School” contest, which was established in 2017 to help school athletic programs across the country. According to the contest’s rules, video and written entries are judged based on creativity and originality, their fit to the theme of school need, incorporation of the Powerade brand and the quality of the submission.

This year’s grants were either $2,000 or $10,000; Whitewater was one of 150 schools nationwide to receive a $2,000 award.
