The South DeKalb Improvement Association Code Compliance Committee has joined with the Wesley Chapel Curb Appeal Task Force, Keep DeKalb Beautiful, and the Home Depot (Wesley Chapel Road store) to give a landscaping facelift to the median near Interstate 20 westbound ramps and to Wesley Chapel Roade on 9:30 to 11 a.m. April 25. The groups will put in 65 plants donated by the Wesley Chapel Home Depot store.

For years, the Wesley Chapel medians have suffered from tall grass and weeds due to a lack of funding to adequately address the mowing schedule to properly maintain the landscaped median, organizers say. The donated plants will be low maintenance and all will grow in a naturally round pattern, yielding a more manageable maintenance schedule. All grass will eventually be removed from the site and plants will be installed in a manner that enhances curb appeal and a better quality of life for property owners, residents and visitors alike while improving the perception of the area. The design will improve safety by decreasing dangerous cut through areas that some pedestrian use to cross Wesley Chapel Road outside of crosswalks.

Volunteers will meet in the parking lot of the Economy Inn, 2565 Wesley Chapel Road at 9:30 a.m. and will continue litter patrols as well.
