Assuming good weather, contractors for Georgia Transmission Corporation will pull utility lines across all lanes on I-85 northbound and southbound between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and Indian Trail Road between 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Oct. 14 and 15. The work, part of a critical electric infrastructure upgrade, will require authorities to pace traffic on I-85 for brief periods, causing motorists to drive at a significantly reduced speed so that crews may safely perform the work.
All southbound and northbound lanes of I-85 between Jimmy Carter Boulevard and the Indian Trail Road will be affected. Access ramps from these exits will be closed during the traffic pacing.
Local law enforcement will help pace traffic. Motorists should expect delays and seek alternate routes. Call 511, visit 511ga.org or download the Georgia 511 app for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
