After a week of rain capped off by a brush with wintry precipitation, forecasters are promising sunny skies and near-normal temperatures throughout the long holiday weekend.

Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said highs will be around 57 on Saturday and Sunday and 53 on Monday, with lows in the 30s.

Normal high is 52, the normal low 34.

With the sunny skies comes another round of weekend road construction on the top-end Perimeter.

Road crews plan to shut down up to three lanes of I-285 eastbound from U.S. 41 to New Northside Drive, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday.

On the westbound side, the left lane of I-285 will be blocked near I-75 in Cobb County.

Roadwork will also close a lane in each direction on Ga. 400 near Sidney Marcus Boulevard, while in DeKalb County, motorists can expect construction on I-285 in both directions near Flat Shoals Road.

Events that will likely cause congestion on downtown streets include Hawks games at 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Monday at Philips Arena and Sunday’s NFC Championship game between the Falcons and the 49ers at 3 p.m. at the Georgia Dome.

On Monday, the King Holiday March and Rally begins at 2 p.m. on Auburn Avenue.
