The forecast calls for “awesome,” both in terms of weather and entertainment. Unless you’re on I-20.

“The weekend will be awesome if you like sunshine and warmer weather,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Karen Minton said.

Temperatures are expected to reach the lower 80s by the end of the weekend, Minton said.

That should feel a little chilly if you’re hanging out at the Tatooine cantina at the third annual Bash of the Empire. The hot spot where Luke Skywalker and Han Solo first met up on the planet with two suns has been re-created for the “Star Wars”-themed party at the Masquerade, 695 North Ave. N.E. The doors open to Jedis, Wookies and Ewoks at 9 p.m. Tickets go for $10-$15. Don’t forget your droid.

If blockbuster movies aren’t your thing, there’s a chance to see a blockbuster musician.

Rock legend Eric Clapton, “Slowhand” himself, plays the Chastain Park Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Cost: $125-$250.

The Atlanta Botanical Garden is also planning a big show, adding nine new creatures to its annual “Imaginary Worlds: A New Kingdom of Plant Giants” exhibit, which will feature, among other things, a 25-foot-tall plant Earth goddess.

The exhibit opens Saturday and runs through October. Cost: $12.95-$18.95.

Earth goddess or not, you’ll likely want to spend some time outside this weekend.

On Saturday, temperatures will “look really nice,” Minton said.

“Even warmer weather is coming for us on Sunday, when we break through into the 80s,” she said. “Sunny skies continue on into … the middle of next week.”

But if you go anywhere, try to stay off I-20, where intermittent road work will close lanes at different places over the weekend.

Here’s a list of potential trouble spots:

  • In Douglas County, one lane in each direction will be closed between Liberty Road and Ga. 5 until 5 a.m. Monday.
  • In Fulton County, three westbound right lanes will be closed between Windsor Street and Capitol Avenue until 6 a.m. Monday.
  • In Rockdale and Newton counties, two eastbound left lanes will be closed between Almon Road and Ga. 138 until 5 a.m. Monday.
  • In DeKalb County, the right shoulder and ramp will be closed between Candler Road and Glenwood Avenue from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
