Four people were injured Tuesday afternoon after a vehicle crashed into a group of people outside the Department of Driver’s Services building in Fayette County, authorities told Channel 2 Action News.

The building is in the 200 block of McElroy Road in Fayetteville. According to Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Allen Stevens, an elderly couple was pulling into a handicap parking space when the driver hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

The vehicle left the parking space and hit a covered area where pedestrians were standing, Stevens said, and two people were hit. They were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The passengers in the car were also transported with non-life threatening injuries.
