No injuries were reported Monday in a fire that destroyed a vacant home in West End.

Atlanta fire Capt. Marian McDaniel said the blaze broke out around 11 a.m. in the 1600 block of Ashby Grove near Lawton Street.

The flames briefly spread to nearby houses that were also vacant, but were doused by firefighters.

Fire investigators were on the scene Monday afternoon, trying to determine a cause.

“These vacant structures are occupied a lot by homeless people, but they’re not sure if that’s what’s going on here,” McDaniel said.
