Cousins Properties will have revisions for its projected mixed-use development on the Callaway Building Property during Decatur’s commission meeting 7:30 p.m. Monday at the City Commission Meeting Room, 509 N. McDonough Street.

In August commissioners said the plans included too much residential and not enough office space. Cousins’ Senior Vice President Bill Bassett insisted that any more office/retail space would not make the project financially feasible.

On Monday Cousins will unveil updated plans that include a three-story office building on the property’s northeast corner, roughly where the old jail steps leading to East Trinity Place now stand. This will cut the residential units, mostly apartments, from 361 to 321.

DeKalb County employees working in the Callaway Building must vacate by April 30. The county has no more extensions remaining. Demolition of the late-1970s structure, named for longtime DeKalb County Commissioner Tom Callaway, is set for summer.
