Two people who died Thursday night in a three-vehicle wreck in Coweta County have been identified.
Nathan Allen Baisden, 26, of Temple and Roger Blake Payne, 19, of Newnan died in the crash, which occurred just north of Newnan on Georgia Highway 16 at Hamilton Drive just after 7 p.m., Georgia Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Tracey Watson said.
Another person involved, Kirsten Taylor Smith, 23, of Fayetteville` was injured and airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center.
A Ford F-150 driven by Baisden was westbound on Georgia Highway 16, and a Mercedes-Benz driven by Payne and Jeep Cherokee driven by Smith were traveling eastbound, Watson said.
The Ford F-150 crossed the double yellow line into the eastbound lane and struck the Mercedes-Benz on the driver’s side, Watson said. After impact, the Mercedes-Benz left the roadway and down an embankment. The F-150 then struck the front of the Jeep Cherokee.
After their impact, the F-150 and Jeep Cherokee became engulfed in flames.
