Two men are facing dozens of charges related to a shooting that injured two DeKalb County police officers in 2014.

Eddie Ball and Ivy Shumake are accused of shooting officers Devon Perry and Tony Luong during a home invasion call on Dec. 14. Both Perry and Luong were shot in the legs by an AK-47.

The officers were shot before 7 a.m. at the Colony Ridge apartment complex near Glenwood Road and Austin Drive in Decatur. The officers were responding to a home invasion at the apartments when the shootings happened, according to authorities.

“As officers were pulling up out of their vehicles, these gentlemen were coming out of the apartment and fired directly upon officers deliberately,” DeKalb County Police Chief Dr. Cedric Alexander said.

A grand jury charged Ball and Shumake with 63 counts Wednesday, including aggravated assault on a peace officer, aggravated battery and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
